“The manual burns, alongside the company having a pretty large stake in the coins, just speaks to me of a manipulation risk,” said Jasper Lawler, head of research at London Capital Group, an online brokerage firm offering cryptocurrency derivatives. “Whenever there’s some sort of mechanism to stop selling, that’s a bit of a warning sign.”

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission said that investors need more protection in the cryptocurrency market, which he said is “rife with fraud, scams and abuse."
“Everybody’s definition of a headquarters of a company is different. When you ask how you define a headquarters --- is that an office where people sit? I worked from home for the last three and a half years. Our leadership team are not sitting in one office, we don’t have a clear place where we can go, by most people’s normal definitions of a headquarters that we can call a headquarters. So, when people ask me, I don’t want to give them a wrong answer just to satisfy their definition.”
The difference is that stellar wants to target the unbanked, whereas Ripple works mostly with global banks to transfer money among clients at very low cost. Ripple holds all the cards in this corner of the crypto market.
Indeed, Amazon has recently sparked rumors that it’s making moves to that end by sharing a job posting for a “digital currency and blockchain product lead.” Walmart is also recruiting a crypto expert to oversee its blockchain strategy.
Cryptocurrency is going mainstream — and becoming increasingly difficult for investors to ignore.
