In the U.S., Binance has been the subject of an investigation by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which is probing whether the platform allowed users to trade derivatives, Bloomberg reported in March, citing sources familiar with the matter. The CFTC investigation is directed at Binance, even though Americans must use Binance.US instead. And in May, the Department of Justice and Internal Revenue Service commenced money laundering investigations related to the company.

Binance.US is an American partner of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, and which was founded in China in 2017. The original platform stopped accepting U.S. users in 2019, and announced it would instead partner with a U.S.-based version of its platform called Binance.US.
It came after the electric car company bought $1.5b (£1.06b) of Bitcoin shares, which in turn sent the market price of both the crypto and Tesla soaring.
Still, an increasing number of big, powerful players are validating crypto’s potential.
Despite this incident, crypto industry experts keep speculating about where Bitcoin's price is headed next with some suggesting it will soon hit $80,000. This past Friday, Bloomberg reported Bitcoin was headed for $80,000 to $85,000, while a crypto data expert said resistance at $60,000 would have provided the last buying opportunity before the coin would head for new all-time highs.
