DLA PIPER REGISTERS TO REPRESENT KING OF JORDAN: In the days before Jordan’s King Abdullah was alleged in a report from the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists to have funneled $100 million through offshore companies to buy more than a dozen luxury homes in the U.S. and U.K., the monarch, a close U.S. ally, was in the midst of hiring the law firm DLA Piper to provide “legal advice related to potential defamation and other legal remedies associated with inquiries” or reports involving the king, according to documents filed with the Justice Department last week.
All the signs, however, were there. Like previous bubbles, people were basing their belief in the cryptocurrency on their emotions, not any intrinsic value. Then there was the FOMO element, which only compounded things. Essentially, bitcoin became an international fever. Random companies were “pivoting to blockchain” for no apparent reason other than that it seemed like a way to create buzz. But when the bubble bursts, FOMO turns into fear of losing, which makes for an especially rapid plunge.

Interpretation of visual scalograms is subjective so it is desirable to find a more quantifiable way to validate the strengthening of coherence in bubble regimes. Fig 6 shows the wavelet coherence over time for the different period bands, in the case of the “new authors” factor for Ethereum. Coherence values, plotted on the vertical axis, vary between zero and one. Time is plotted on the horizontal axis.
