If this type of extreme drop bothers you, you may have too much riding on your crypto investments. You should only invest what you’re OK losing. But even if the drop is making you rethink your crypto allocations, the same advice still stands — don’t act rashly or upend your strategy too quickly. Reconsider what you might be more comfortable with going forward, such as allocating less to crypto in the future or diversifying through crypto-related stocks and blockchain funds rather than directly buying crypto (though you should still expect volatility when cryptocurrency markets fluctuate).

The price of Bitcoin rapidly plunged about 87% on Binance's U.S. exchange Thursday morning, sinking to as low as $8,200 from around $65,000. The price did nothing like that on other venues, and on Binance the level almost immediately snapped back to where it had been.
What makes the fee structure so complicated is Binance’s focus on different fees for different levels of users. While, theoretically, this is similar in both the main platform and Binance.US, the American platform has fewer of these levels. For some, this may seem simple and clear; but it could also mean that using Binance.US is more costly than its main counterpart.

We also consider two additional factors that account for the finding that in some periods prices drift away from fundamentals. The first factor is the return of Bitcoin. We argue that Bitcoin, being the largest and most traded cryptocurrency, is the most perceptible to sentiment and speculative trading by investors. Thus, as a factor, it can capture periods when trading forces unrelated to fundamentals are the strongest. The second factor is a cryptocurrency price momentum factor that we construct following the seminal work of Jegadeesh and Titman (1993). Momentum effects have been linked to investor psychology (e.g. Barberis et al. 1998).

A cryptocurrency’s blockchain is the master public ledger that records and stores all prior transactions and activity, validating ownership of all units of the currency at any given point in time.
Initial Coin Offering. In an ICO, an entity issues virtual coins, often called tokens, to raise capital. A “token sale” is simply distributing a new cryptocurrency to investors, who typically pay for the tokens in bitcoin or another established cryptocurrency.
Interestingly, the breakout was initiated right as a report from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) showed a sharp 6.2% annual rise in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a figure that has hit its highest mark in 30 years.

While its price had fallen slightly from a 24 hour high of $68,525 on Tuesday morning to $67,983.80 as of 2.10pm, Bitcoin’s price hike still represents a year-on-year increase of more than 300% on last November’s value.
