NEW BUSINESS: Binance.US, the American arm of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, hired its first lobbying firms last month, newly filed disclosures show, as policymakers in Washington face calls to rein in the rapidly growing and mostly unregulated industry. Hogan Lovells’ Ivan Zapien, a Democratic lobbyist who previously was chief of staff to now-Senate Foreign Relations Chair Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), and former House GOP aides Aaron Cutler and Chase Kroll will lobby for the exchange.
As users choose the more robust and convenient option, the service will see a fall in traffic that will translate to fewer transactions. This will disincentivise BTT staking, which is likely to make its core function largely obsolete.

Bitcoin is down roughly 20% week-over-week, around 30% from its all-time high of nearly $65,000 early last week. The market cap of the coin has dipped below $1 trillion. The tumble has been less severe for Ethereum, which hit an all-time high just yesterday but has since dropped 13% as the broader market has crawled back.

In early November, FTM formed an inverse head and shoulder pattern, eventually breaking the neckline with a steep rise close to $3.2. However, it is now recovering from the steep drop it experienced overnight along with the market. On its way down, it broke through several local support levels.
To investors hunting for the next Dogecoin, the more than 19,000 per cent price gain that cryptocurrency SafeMoon posted in its early weeks was like catnip. Though the price of the four-month-old token has dropped since then, more than 2.4 million investors have bought it, according to its developers.
From the perspective of technical analysis, profit-taking near all-time highs and the need for a retest of lower support levels are normal processes for most cryptocurrencies. In fact, a quick glance over discussions by many analysts and traders on Twitter shows that most expected BTC to revisit lower support levels at $64,000 and below before recapturing bullish momentum and moving higher.
Enforcement Director Joe Rotunda discusses fraud in crypto-related securities offerings:
A cryptocurrency analyst at the YouTube channel “Broke Man Finance” has analyzed the SafeMoon price trend and predicted that the token would likely hit a new all-time high soon.
"With more participants in Bitcoin, there is perhaps less volatility, which is in turn attracting more institutional investors and further promoting the stability of the popular cryptocurrency.”
As explained in its roadmap, the SafeMoon team hope to begin a "community listing donation raise for several exchanges" in Q3 2021. As of July 21, this has not yet started.
Virtual currencies. Like fiat currency, virtual currencies such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ether are intended as a medium of exchange that enables two parties to transact business. But there are important differences: No physical coins or bills. Virtual currencies exist only in computer code. Except for visual representation of Bitcoin and altcoins in advertising and displays, and coin-like tokens that may be produced for marketing purposes, there are no actual coins or bills. Not legal tender. Virtual currencies are not legal tender and are not issued or backed by a government. However, many virtual currencies, which are called convertible virtual currencies, can be redeemed for fiat currency on a number of exchanges. No regulation. Virtual currencies are not regulated by any government agency or authority. However, regulation is being considered, especially where virtual currencies function as securities when they’re used to raise capital and when traded on exchanges.

In fairness, this is not due to any failing from Binance.US specifically, but rather, is due to the regulatory hurdles it must contend with. That being said, Binance.US currently has 53 cryptocurrencies (including stablecoins) available for trading.
Binance.US formed in 2019 after Binance stopped accepting U.S. investors. The interface and many features are the same, but there are differences such as the amount of cryptocurrencies available to trade in the U.S. vs. elsewhere, as well as which states Binance.US is allowed to operate in. United States users cannot buy crypto using the international Binance platform.
