Elon Musk’s announcement that Tesla would no longer be accepting Bitcoin as payment on environmental concerns was followed by China issuing a crypto crackdown.
Many cryptocurrencies are built on blockchain technology, which is a distributed ledger enforced by a distributed network of computers. Cryptocurrencies are distinguished from fiat currencies like the United States dollar or the British pound because any central authority does not issue them, making them potentially impervious to government intervention or manipulation.
However, cryptocurrency is unique as it is typically decentralised so there is no control from government interference. Cryptocurrency uses something called a blockchain.

SafeMoon Protocol is a decentralized finance (DeFi) token. The protocol launched in March 2021 and has already more than 1 million users. SafeMoon stands for "Safely to the Moon", a phrase that was adopted by Redditors about DogeCoin which refers to the price going upwards "as high as the Moon". SafeMoon protocol is a combination of RFI tokenomics and an auto-liquidity generating protocol. According to the SafeMoon website, SafeMoon has three functions that take place during each trade: Reflection, LP Acquisition and Burn. SafeMoon plans to develop a non-fungible token NFT exchange, as well as charity projects and crypto educational apps.
Yet some crypto watchers have raised red flags over SafeMoon’s unusual structure. It charges a 10 per cent fee to buy tokens and another 10 per cent to sell — almost unheard of in the digital currency world. Half of these fees are paid to owners as an incentive to keep holding and the other half goes into a liquidity pool controlled by the developers. SafeMoon calls itself a DeFi token, or one that uses decentralized finance to govern functions through software, but it has a chief executive officer and chief operating officer. Critics also worry about the discretionary nature of the “manual” coin burns used to adjust its circulation. Bitcoin’s volatility is more reason for investors to play a steady long game. If you’re buying for long-term growth potential, then don’t worry about short-term swings. The best thing you can do is not look at your cryptocurrency investment, or “set it and forget it.” As experts continue to tell us each time there’s a price swing — whether up or down — emotional reaction can cause investors to act rashly and make decisions that result in losses on their investment.
If you had purchased $1000 in SafeMoon near its launch date for $0.000001571 and then sold it for the highest market price since its release. You wosuld have sold those tokens for approximately $8750. This is a sizeable return on investment, but a simple google search will show you that these numbers do not reflect some of the incredible results altcoins have produced.
Note that backing up a wallet doesn’t duplicate the actual cryptocurrency units, merely the record of their existence and current ownership.
That seems to be the overall message from most. Even Innes, who has been critical of bitcoin and crypto-trading for quite a while, admits that this doesn’t mean the blockchain is bunk. He, in fact, sees things looking up. “If this base can hold,” he says, “[the price will] start drifting up.” But not because of fervor or blind faith that bitcoin is the future, but due to advances on the technology side.
