While the recent price history suggests that a meaningful rebound is imminent, it is crucial to pay attention to Bitcoin’s interaction with the 50 four-hour moving average at $62,000. Any increase in selling pressure that leads to a break of the support level could invalidate the optimistic outlook.
Dogecoin, which was initially set up as a joke in 2012 before seeing its shares skyrocket, has also dropped while Solana has seen its market price rise by more than 8%.

Binance U.S.’ trading algorithm suffered from a bug that resulted in a Bitcoin flash crash on Oct. 21. Although prices recovered quickly, both cryptocurrencies are now trying to hold support to avoid further losses.
GURA: A HODLer is crypto-speak for someone who bought cryptocurrency and who's held on to it, despite its extreme volatility. Lummis paid $330 for her first bitcoin back in 2013, and today it's worth around $60,000. She's bought more of it since, which means Lummis stands to gain or lose from the policy she's helping to shape. Lummis wants Wyoming to become one of the world's crypto capitals.
Cryptocurrencies are inherently cryptic — it’s right there in the name. And if you follow Warren Buffett’s advice to never invest in businesses you can’t understand, it may be hard to justify investing in a currency made of math instead of gold.
Bitcoin’s current rally has been fueled by the U.S. trading debut of a Bitcoin-linked ETF as well as Elon Musk’s weekend Twitter poll, said Ben Caselin, head of research and strategy at crypto exchange AAX. “With Shiba and other memecoins having surged recently, and Facebook’s rebranding to Meta, interest in altcoins continues to rise.”
Cryptocurrency has become a worldwide phenomenon, with governments and banks being among the first to recognise its importance. But with so much volatility in the marketplace, new currencies being created daily and plenty of crypto naysayers about, where do you start when you’re new to the industry? We’ve created dedicated guides that look at Bitcoin, altcoins and stablecoins. You can explore the purpose, benefits and risks of each coin and keep up-to-date with how they’re performing in the market. How are crypto prices determined? Let's look at the different factors that affect the value of cryptocurrency
Tim Cook says he owns cryptocurrency - but don't expect it at Apple any time soon
One example is the negative correlation that occurs between Ethereum and its associated factors around June 2016 (left facing arrows at the top and just left of the horizontal middle of the Ethereum scalograms). During this time interval, one of the most well-known applications at the time, the DAO, built on top of the Ethereum environment, was hacked. It can be seen that all factors are negatively correlated in the short term with the price during this time interval. As a result of the uncertainty generated by the hack, price dropped sharply, but activity on social media and interest increased (causing the negative correlation). The negative relationship can be seen during the 2–4 day band for all factors.
Cryptocurrencies work using a technology called blockchain. They are tokens that can be used as a form of payment in exchange for online goods and services. They carry a pre-determined store value of their own, just like any other fiat currency like the US dollar or the Indian rupee. Cryptocurrencies are digitally mined, where very sophisticated computers solve extremely complex computational mathematics problems. Their mining is painstaking, costly and only sporadically rewarding.
Both ideas are about making a few people rich, not about building a decentralised paradise where everyone prospers
The NYDFS is known for being especially rigorous in its approach to cryptocurrency businesses compared to other state regulators, requiring an exacting review of capital requirements and policies regarding money laundering, fraud, capitalization, consumer protection, and cybersecurity. It's an unpopular approach among many in the crypto industry, some of whom have even opted to pull business out of New York rather than bear the high cost of compliance.
