After all, “fiat is dirty”:

China is one market to impose strict regulation that impacted prices. In February 2018, the country blocked its citizens from accessing websites that offer cryptocurrency trading services, prompting a 15% fall in Bitcoin and 20% plunge for Ether. Safemoon is a member of the group of tokens known as memecoins. Memecoins are crypto tokens or coins based on internet memes. Specifically, Safemoon derives its name from a popular slang term in crypto discussion forums—’going to the moon’. This expression refers to the price of a crypto asset rising very high over a very short period.
Yet some crypto watchers have raised red flags over SafeMoon’s unusual structure. It charges a 10 per cent fee to buy tokens and another 10 per cent to sell — almost unheard of in the digital currency world. Half of these fees are paid to owners as an incentive to keep holding and the other half goes into a liquidity pool controlled by the developers. SafeMoon calls itself a DeFi token, or one that uses decentralized finance to govern functions through software, but it has a chief executive officer and chief operating officer. Critics also worry about the discretionary nature of the “manual” coin burns used to adjust its circulation. After an initial sharp share price increase of 910% in April, the crypto is currently valued at £0.000003 after recovering 7.4% in the last 24 hours (22-23 June).
Cryptocurrency — also known as crypto — is a digital currency designed to work as a medium of exchange. It uses cryptography to secure and verify transactions, as well as to control the creation of new units of a particular digital currency.
The global crypto market cap jumped about 4 per cent to $2.85 trillion. However, the total crypto market volume was almost flat to $97.46 billion.
Overall, it appears from these results that cryptocurrencies may experience short term intervals of co-movement, caused by sector wide news or cross market contagion, though correlation is likely to change dependent on the nature of the causal event and market environment. In the medium and longer term Bitcoin and Litecoin are strongly related; it is believed this is due to their similarity.
