To investors hunting for the next Dogecoin, the more than 19,000 per cent price gain that cryptocurrency SafeMoon posted in its early weeks was like catnip. Though the price of the four-month-old token has dropped since then, more than 2.4 million investors have bought it, according to its developers.

Dogecoin, founded in 2012 as a joke, has drawn widespread attention from high-profile personalities such as billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and rapper Snoop Dogg.
When the market adjusts, the price shoots up. Large holders of that crypto can then cash in on the gains by dumping their coins, bringing the price down. Although exchanges know about these methods, stopping them isn’t all that simple, as the perpetrators know how to stay under the radar.

New Delhi: Major cryptocurrencies witnessed a fall on Thursday amid global inflation concerns, which made other currencies and gold attractive. Barring Solana, all other nine out of the top 10 cryptocurrencies were trading lower at 9.30 hours IST. Cardano, Dogecoin and Polkadot shed up to 5 per cent each.
