Another institutional hit for bitcoin–which probably had the most sustained effect–was the SEC’s refusal to approve a bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). Ricardo Salinas Pliego, a magnate with large operations in retail, banking and television who has been seen as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s closest business ally, wrote in his social media accounts Sunday that Bitcoin is a good investment.
"Nowadays new coins can be listed on decentralised exchanges on the first day they are created, without any regulation or due diligence," said Jinnan Ouyang from Singapore-based crypto company Openmining.
Yet tales of meme-coin holders becoming millionaires have attracted new waves of retail investors to crypto -- along with a growing number of nefarious players. In May, the Federal Trade Commission tallied a record number of crypto investment scams, with Americans’ losses totaling around $80 million since October.
Altcoin. Refers to any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin, and there are thousands.
Margin is a key part of leveraged trading. It is the term used to describe the initial deposit you put up to open and maintain a leveraged position. When you are trading cryptocurrencies on margin, remember that your margin requirement will change depending on your broker, and how large your trade size is.
That can mean serious savings for investors, especially compared to some other exchanges. For example, if you want to buy $100 worth of Bitcoin on Coinbase, you’d actually end up with about $96.51 in Bitcoin, after fees. On Binance.US, you’d still have $99.99 to purchase Bitcoin after accounting for the 0.1% fee.
The market seems to have taken a turn this morning as a correction has set in. Both BTC and ETH have witnessed a small correction, said Zebpay Trade Desk. The same is happening in altcoins as well, it added.
