Now the country’s central bank, People’s Bank of China, has effectively banned digital coins after announcing all transactions of cryptocurrencies are illegal.
The first cryptocurrency was bitcoin. The bitcoin domain was registered in 2008, but the first transaction took place in 2009. It was developed by someone called ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’. However, there is speculation that Nakamoto is a pseudonym as the bitcoin creator is notoriously secretive, and no one knows whether ‘he’ is a person or a group.
In a recent report from Kraken exchange, analysts said that the current quarter’s price action has a correlation of 0.88 with the fourth quarter of 2017.

Some experts predict bigger, global corporations could jumpstart this adoption even more in the latter half of this year. “What we’re looking at is institutions getting involved in crypto, whether it’s Amazon or the big banks,” says Weiss. A huge retailer like Amazon could “create a chain reaction of others accepting it,” and would “add a lot of credibility.”
Binance currently lists 150 coins and tokens. Binance.US has said it is considering 30 assets to list initially. In a blog post last week, Coley acknowledged that "the ease of issuing blockchain tokens and the perceived lack of regulation could make these tokens targets for abuse," and that the company recognizes it has legal and moral obligations to protect its users.
There are hundreds of cryptocurrency exchanges already, and dozens based in the U.S. Trade volume on Binance is currently $1.2 billion compared to $660 million on Coinbase Pro, $355 million on Kraken, $75 million on Gemini and $47 million on Poloniex, according to CoinMarketCap as of publication.
