But what is SafeMoon and why has it garnered such an interest? And is it something you should look out for?

Cryptocurrency transactions are recorded on a decentralized ledger. This ledger is called a blockchain. Every time crypto is bought or sold, the transaction is added to the blockchain — a public database of the transactions, which is available to other crypto holders. Anyone can join and participate in the blockchain, but data on individual transactions — and the people involved with them — are secured using cryptography (the basis for the term cryptocurrency). For each transaction added to the blockchain, there’s a digital validation process to verify it and prevent fraud.

Both are leveraged products, meaning you only need to put up a small deposit – known as margin – to gain full exposure to the underlying market. Your profit or loss are still calculated according to the full size of your position, so leverage will magnify both profits and losses.

Mining computers compile valid transactions into a new block and attempt to generate the cryptographic link to the previous block by finding a solution to a complex algorithm. When a computer succeeds in generating the link, it adds the block to its version of the blockchain file and broadcasts the update across the network.
Cryptocurrency — also known as crypto — is a digital currency designed to work as a medium of exchange. It uses cryptography to secure and verify transactions, as well as to control the creation of new units of a particular digital currency.
Brian Brooks, incoming CEO of crypto exchange Binance.US, tells CNN's Julia Chatterley that "at a certain point, finance will have migrated out of the analog age and into the digital age." He weighs in on Dogecoin, Coinbase, and regulation.
In the case of cryptocurrencies, academia has barely scratched the surface with respect to identifying the determinants of their prices. For example, studies by Cheah and Fry (2015) and Corbet et al. (2018) claim that Bitcoin has no intrinsic value and that its price has persistently exhibited ‘bubble-like’ behaviour. Makarov and Schoar (2018) find that the prices of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple differ across exchanges for weeks. Outside of academia, the President of the United States recently tweeted that cryptocurrencies are based on “thin air”.1
Shroder will oversee the company’s strategy and execution, fundraising, business and corporate development as well as manage the firm's Legal, HR, and product and technology functions, says Binance.US. Brooks quit a month ago, citing "differences over strategic direction" at the cryptocurrency exchange, which has been dogged by regulatory issues around the world, with watchdogs in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany and Thailand among those to take action over AML and consumer protection concerns. In a statement, Shroder stresses that Binance.US has established itself as "regulatory compliant" as well as profitable, serving millions of customers. During nearly three years at Ant Group, Shroder focused on growing and expanding the company’s operations and global partnerships. Prior to Ant, he was head of strategy and business development for Uber in their Asia Pacific region. Shroder's brother Matt joined Binance in February 2020 as VP, global expansion operations. Ahead of the SafeMoon wallet release, its eponymous native token’s price was on a steady upward crawl. Beginning the week at $0.00000184, it made its way up to $0.00000365 by August 28. However, this proved a brief moment in the sun for SAFEMOON as two hours after the wallet’s intended release, the price crashed back down to $0.00000292. From this figure, the token’s value has continued to tumble. At time of press, SAFEMOON was down 22.2%, with a value at that time of $0.00000281.

Safemoon has a few unique features that have attracted both praise and criticism. For example, the Safemoon smart contract charges a 10% exit fee for holders who choose to sell. Half of this fee is ‘burned’, while the other is redistributed to remaining token holders, theoretically increasing the value of their holdings over time.
