World's largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin was trading over 4% higher today. The price of Bitcoin rose 4.63% to $68,351 on Coinmarketcap. Market cap of the cryptocurrency reached $1,288.07 billion.
The wave of job changes dubbed the Great Resignation includes top tech and media leaders. Executives who have left roles at Intel, SoftBank, Facebook and crypto exchange Binance.US in the last year are among those on the move.
Indeed, Amazon has recently sparked rumors that it’s making moves to that end by sharing a job posting for a “digital currency and blockchain product lead.” Walmart is also recruiting a crypto expert to oversee its blockchain strategy.
Bitcoin’s volatility is more reason for investors to play a steady long game. If you’re buying for long-term growth potential, then don’t worry about short-term swings. The best thing you can do is not look at your cryptocurrency investment, or “set it and forget it.” As experts continue to tell us each time there’s a price swing — whether up or down — emotional reaction can cause investors to act rashly and make decisions that result in losses on their investment.
Yet some crypto watchers have raised red flags over SafeMoon’s unusual structure. It charges a 10% fee to buy tokens and another 10% to sell -- almost unheard of in the digital currency world. Half of these fees are paid to owners as an incentive to keep holding and the other half goes into a liquidity pool controlled by the developers. SafeMoon calls itself a DeFi token, or one that uses decentralized finance to govern functions through software, but it has a chief executive officer and chief operating officer. Critics also worry about the discretionary nature of the “manual” coin burns used to adjust its circulation.
The wallet has been a subject of excitement, particularly among the SafeMoon community, for some time. Earlier this month, John Karony posted a video showcasing the product’s “safety, quality and accessibility.”
He added: "You’re simply reliant on someone further down the line being willing to pay more than you did to turn a profit, which is a risky bet indeed."
You can think of the liquidity pool as a body of water that people are constantly taking from and adding to. If the pool is the size of a bucket, even a few cupfuls in or out affect how much water is left, and therefore how much you pay for it. If the pool is the size of a lake, even thousands of cupfuls in or out have no measurable effect on the water level in the lake.
While Bitcoin tumbled, Ethereum was heavily rejected on Oct. 21 as it approached its mid-May all-time high at $4,380.
Since crypto is a relatively new industry compared with others, legal clarity does not yet exist in terms of requirements for all areas of the space. Part of such clarity includes asset classification. Bitcoin and Ether are viewed as commodities, although categorization for numerous other assets remains unclear.
In June, the Chinese Government cracked down on considerable crypto mining operations taking place in the Sichuan province and demanded that Chinese banks and payment channels stop supporting decentralised and anonymous crypto transactions.
When you buy cryptocurrencies via an exchange, you purchase the coins themselves. You’ll need to create an exchange account, put up the full value of the asset to open a position, and store the cryptocurrency tokens in your own wallet until you’re ready to sell.
In an interview from his home in the U.K., John Karony, SafeMoon’s 25-year-old chief executive officer, emphatically denied that his token is a Ponzi scheme. “I put everything, my identity and my credibility, on the line for SafeMoon,” he said.
