Bitcoin’s (BTC) price hit another all-time high at $69,000, while Ether (ETH) continued its long slog toward $5,000 after reaching a new high at $4,868 earlier on Wednesday. Shortly after hitting this fresh milestone, however, traders began taking profit, leading to a nearly $7,000 drop, which plunged BTC’s price below $63,000.
Identical copies of the blockchain are stored in every node of the cryptocurrency’s software network — the network of decentralized server farms, run by computer-savvy individuals or groups of individuals known as miners, that continually record and authenticate cryptocurrency transactions.

When the market adjusts, the price shoots up. Large holders of that crypto can then cash in on the gains by dumping their coins, bringing the price down. Although exchanges know about these methods, stopping them isn’t all that simple, as the perpetrators know how to stay under the radar.
