Jed McCaleb helped spread Bitcoin’s prominence in the industry’s early days as a result of starting Mt. Gox, a place that frequently hosted Bitcoin trading — despite its original function as a hub for fans of a game called Magic: The Gathering. However, it was rendered infamous when the platform fell apart in 2014.
Cryptocurrency transactions are recorded on a decentralized ledger. This ledger is called a blockchain. Every time crypto is bought or sold, the transaction is added to the blockchain — a public database of the transactions, which is available to other crypto holders. Anyone can join and participate in the blockchain, but data on individual transactions — and the people involved with them — are secured using cryptography (the basis for the term cryptocurrency). For each transaction added to the blockchain, there’s a digital validation process to verify it and prevent fraud.

This is just one example, but it definitely highlights the difference between trading on Binance and Binance.US. Although small traders won't make much of an impact on either exchange, all else being equal, most traders would prefer to trade against the larger book, rather than the smaller one.
