One investor who wasn’t deterred was Barstool Sports Inc. founder Dave Portnoy. In May, he announced to his 2.6 million followers on Twitter that he’d bought $40,000 worth, despite saying that SafeMoon could be a Ponzi scheme, a scam in which early investors’ returns are paid with funds coming from later buyers that collapses when new deposits dry up or too many people try to cash out.
Going forward, it's impossible to know for sure how the value will change and whether it could rise further.

A top official said Zimbabwe is looking to allow cryptocurrency as legal payment, according to a local report Sunday.
Regulation across borders has to keep up with the rapidly advancing pace of cryptocurrency development. Due to the decentralized nature of cryptocurrencies, this is a complex matter, with international disagreement ranging from the legitimacy of currency status, or even whether they should be made illegal.
The growth of SafeMoon, coupled with its online slogan, has drawn comparisons to the surge in popularity of another cryptocurrency Dogecoin. (Pic: Shutterstock)
Google Trends returns data with different granularity depending on the historical time interval queried: daily search volumes are returned for queries under 90 days and weekly search volumes for queries of length over 90 days. However it is possible to reconstruct daily data for long time intervals using a combination of daily and weekly data and the method described and validated by [4]: Daily data is retrieved in buckets of under 90 days, and weekly data is also retrieved for the complete time interval of interest. Then using the daily data, the percentage change of each day in a week from the first day of the week is calculated; these percentage changes are then applied to the weekly data to build a daily time series over a longer period.
I present a model of cryptocurrency price formation that endogenizes both the financial market for coins and the fee-based market for blockchain space. A cryptocurrency has two distinctive features: a price determined by the extent of its usage as money, and a blockchain structure that restricts settlement capacity. Limited settlement space creates competition between users of the currency, so speculative activity can crowd out monetary usage. This crowding-out undermines the ability of a cryptocurrency to act as a medium of payment, lowering its value. Higher speculative demand can reduce prices, contrary to standard economic models. Crowding-out also raises the riskiness of investing in cryptocurrency, explaining high observed price volatility. 05 November 2021 Refinancing cross-subsidies in the mortgage... Virtual currencies. Like fiat currency, virtual currencies such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ether are intended as a medium of exchange that enables two parties to transact business. But there are important differences: No physical coins or bills. Virtual currencies exist only in computer code. Except for visual representation of Bitcoin and altcoins in advertising and displays, and coin-like tokens that may be produced for marketing purposes, there are no actual coins or bills. Not legal tender. Virtual currencies are not legal tender and are not issued or backed by a government. However, many virtual currencies, which are called convertible virtual currencies, can be redeemed for fiat currency on a number of exchanges. No regulation. Virtual currencies are not regulated by any government agency or authority. However, regulation is being considered, especially where virtual currencies function as securities when they’re used to raise capital and when traded on exchanges.
Transactions are internet-based and are recorded in a blockchain. The blockchain shows the transaction history for each unit and is used to prove ownership. The digital assets are best visualized as virtual tokens. These tokens mean something to the internal system and can be programmed to record financial transactions and other valuable information.
