Exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Equatorial Guinea are expected to resume after more than six weeks of disruption following an incident at the Alba gas processing facility, trading sources and the plant operator said. Sources have told Reuters in October that force majeure has been declared at the facility and some LNG cargoes have been deferred or canceled. The West African Punta Europa LNG plant is expected to export its first cargo since Sept. 25.
— Meanwhile, Rover, the pet care site sometimes referred to along with its competitor Wag as the Uber of dog walking, has retained Mercury Public Affairs as its first outside lobbying firm. Mercury’s Mike McSherry, an alum of the RNC, Republican Governors’ Association and Labor Department, will lobby for Rover on tax and labor classification issues — a development that comes as the Biden administration has pledged to recognize workers dispatched by apps as employees rather than contractors. Gig companies are also facing new tax reporting requirements beginning next year, thanks to the coronavirus stimulus bill signed into law by President Joe Biden in March.

Although few cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin are widely accepted for merchant payments, increasingly active exchanges allow holders to exchange them for Bitcoin or fiat currencies — providing critical liquidity and flexibility. Since the late 2010s, big business and institutional investors have closely watched what they call the “crypto space” too.
