SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) — El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender Tuesday, but the rollout stumbled in its first hours and President Nayib Bukele said the digital wallet used for transactions was not functioning.

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission said that investors need more protection in the cryptocurrency market, which he said is “rife with fraud, scams and abuse."
Vavilov said he had found an “immediate energy fit” with Brooks, who was acting chairman of the Office of the Comptroller of the Monetary Authority, a US banking regulator until January. He previously worked as Chief Legal Officer at the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase.
